Detroit columnist thinks he knows better than the Founding Fathers
"The Founding Fathers of our country made a mistake when they said we had the right to bear arms. They did not know we would be allies with the British and no longer have to worry about them coming over to oppress and colonize us. The British found greater spoils in Africa and India and never looked back on the United States after the Revolutionary War.
The right to bear arms is killing all of us. In 2005 the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported 3,006 children and teens killed by gunfire, most of them young, black men in inner-city neighborhoods. And CNN reported yesterday that black-on-black murder of young black men is up 40 percent from last year. The harder the times get, the higher these statistics will go."

Water-Based Eyeglasses
The wearer adjusts a dial on the syringe to add or reduce amount of fluid in the membrane, thus changing the power of the lens. When the wearer is happy with the strength of each lens the membrane is sealed by twisting a small screw, and the syringes removed. The principle is so simple, the team has discovered, that with very little guidance people are perfectly capable of creating glasses to their own prescription.

Recently AOL polled 88,000 people asking them if they were concerned about Obama's citizenship. It turned out, 52% of those polled, believe America should be concerned about Obama's citizenship.

Christians Called to Abandon Public Education
The name Dunkirk is famous for the hundreds of thousands of World War II allies saved in May 1940 when a flotilla of pleasure boats, fishing craft and others rescued the soldiers from the beaches near Dunkirk, France, where they were trapped by an advancing German army.
Author David J. Knowles, who wrote a book on the rescue that British Prime Minister Winston Churchill called a miracle, said volunteers including boat owners, fishermen – ordinary people instead of trained soldiers and sailors – crossed the English Channel to effect the rescue of about 340,000 people.
Now, officials with Exodus Mandate have launched their "Call to Dunkirk" to advocate a departure from public schools.

The Greatest Givers
In this year of bailouts and spreading the wealth, one of the more persistent stereotypes about conservatives being dragged out of the mud by liberals is that conservatives are greedy and only want to keep the money they make for themselves. This is why liberals believe in income redistribution by the government through taxation and entitlement programs; if the government doesn’t take it and do the right thing with it, their logic goes, those conservatives certainly won’t. The book, “Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism,” by Syracuse University professor Arthur C. Brooks, blows this stereotype to pieces, and no one was more surprised by its findings than the author. Brooks is a behavioral economist, a child of academics who was raised in a liberal home and educated in the liberal arts. He has no political affiliation, declaring “I have no comfortable political home.”
Professor Brooks analyzed ten years of data adjusted for variables such as age, gender, race and income, carefully documenting his methodology so the results could withstand the scrutiny of other researchers. His conclusions? Religious conservatives donate far more money than secular liberals to all sorts of charitable activities irrespective of income. Professor Brooks also points out that liberals give less than conservatives in every conceivable way, including volunteer hours and donated blood. Not only do religious conservatives give more to charity, they give generously - four times as much as others.

Crossing the Rubicon
By Chris Allen:
The United States Supreme Court, by making NO statement on the issues of
Barack Hussein Obama's eligibility for the Presidency, has conspired with half of the nation to render the Constitution, the supposedly inviolate code of law protecting each of us, meaningless. This is the point of no return; an act of war declared against all our laws represent, our way of life.

Rumors of the Death of Arctic Sea Ice Greatly Exaggerated
"… there is a folly to human arrogance and some things cannot be “fixed,” are outside of the powers of man. The weather, for example, is governed by forces beyond human control.
But the arrogance of the race is boundless, and there are those who actually believe that man is in the process of destroying the Earth’s weather, or at least climate. Al Gore, the leader of the Gang Green, tramps about the planet in his fuel-guzzling, greenhouse gas-spewing jets to tell people that the world is burning — his speeches are usually given on days of bitter cold — because they are living too extravagantly by, well, heating their homes when cold and driving their cars to work. James Hansen of NASA gives hysterical lectures to Congress and the news media, claiming we face fire and brimstone. Repeatedly we have been told we have ten years left, starting in the 1980s; much like those old end-of-the-world preachers, the date for the end time keeps extending.

The Proper Role of Government
These are the principles which, in my opinion, proclaim the proper role of government in the domestic affairs of the nation.
“(I) believe that governments were instituted of God for the benefit of man; and that he holds men accountable for their acts in relation to them, both in making laws and administering them, for the good and safety of society.”
“(I) believe that no government can exist in peace, except such laws are framed and held inviolate as will secure to each individual the free exercise of conscience, the right and control of property, and the protection of life…”
“(I) believe that all men are bound to sustain and uphold the respective governments in which they reside, which protected in their inherent and inalienable rights by the laws of such governments; and that sedition and rebellion are unbecoming every citizen thus protected, and should be punished accordingly; and that all governments have a right to enact such laws as in their own judgments are best calculated to secure the public interest; at the same time, however, holding sacred the freedom of conscience.”

Taking The Pulse
If September 11th 2001 was “the day everything changed”, November 4th 2008 was the day everything changed back – at least as far as the rest of the world is concerned. The “global war on terror” was a Bush concept and will expire with his presidency, long past its sell-by date, as far as the “international community” is concerned: Weary Europeans find it unhelpful to the cause of mollifying their own restive Muslim populations, and wealthy Arabs want to get on with buying up the western world’s banks and soccer teams with a somewhat lighter level of scrutiny than they’ve been subject to these last seven years.

Gamma rays from the explosion, through the Compton Effect, generate three classes of disruptive electromagnetic pulses, which permanently destroy consumer electronics, the electronics in some automobiles and, most importantly, the hundreds of large transformers that distribute power throughout the U.S. All of our lights, refrigerators, water-pumping stations, TVs and radios stop running. We have no communication and no ability to provide food and water to 300 million Americans.
This is what is referred to as an EMP attack, and such an attack would effectively throw America back technologically into the early 19th century.

Atheists' National Holiday?
I am a patriot, and I believe that atheists are free to believe, speak and post whatever they want. This is America, and that's their First Amendment right. But to do so with harassment and hatred under the guise of free speech is despicable. An anti-religious poster filled with spite is in no way equal to a religious symbol, such as a Nativity scene. Where are the political correctness police when religious followers are the victims?

Obama Considering Openly Homosexual Man for Secretary of the Navy
As president of Manhattan's Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, Bill White has managed the restoration of a World War II aircraft carrier. Now, some Congressional and former military leaders think the Long Island native should manage the entire U.S. Navy.
They are touting the 41-year-old Manhattan resident as secretary of the Navy in the Obama administration.
The appointment would make the former Point Lookout resident the first openly gay chief of a branch of the military. And that could make his selection tricky because the government and the country have not resolved the issue of gays openly serving in the Armed Forces.

New Rule Protects Health-Care Workers' 'Right of Conscience'

Al Gore Criticizes Bush Sr. for Ignoring Iraq’s Ties to Terrorism
In this video you will hear Gore make the following points and more:
Points out Iraq’s ties to Terrorism and criticizes President Bush for hiding these ties from the American people.
Criticizes President Bush for refusing to take tough actions against Saddam.
Criticizes President Bush for ignoring CIA reports, State Dept. reports & other reports that Saddam was seeking to develop WMDs and Nuclear weapons.
Criticizes President Bush for thinking that Saddam’s behavior would improve out of fear of economic and political sanctions.
Speaking of Saddam Hussein, Gore said:
"He had already launched poison gas attacks, repeatedly, and Bush looked the other way. He had already conducted extensive terrorism activities, and Bush had looked the other way. He was alread deepy involved in the effort to acquire nuclear weapons, and other weapons of mass destruction, and Bush knew it, but he looked the other way.

A Plan to Survive the 0bama years
Americans on Nov. 4 turned over control of the United States of America to a management team possessing no executive experience, having never run, as I liked to put it, nothing.
Bill Kristol, writing in The Weekly Standard, reminded me that every 16 years we get a Democrat president with no experience in national security or international affairs who's elected after Republican presidents have made and kept America safe: After Eisenhower, we got Kennedy; after Nixon/Ford, we got Carter; after Reagan/Bush, we got Clinton. And after Bush II, we get Barack Obama.
Every strong Republican president who succeeded in protecting America has allowed Americans to become complacent about national security, thereby opening the door for weak Democrats who allowed enemies to threaten and attack America without penalty. Obama will be no different, and Americans will have to learn again that there can be no economic security without national security.

Why Marriage Matters
The various religions that view homosexuality as a sin would, through the legal process, be forced to change their doctrine or face punishment such as the loss of tax-exempt status or other legal ramifications. Sexual orientation would be viewed in the same light as race or eye color, characteristics that are by no means controllable, a notion that the teachings of many religious institutions fully oppose.
Take these 3 cases for example:
* February 24, 2000: A professional printer refused to print material for the Canadian Gay and Lesbian Archives because he felt doing so would violate his religious beliefs. He was fined and ordered to print the material anyway. He took his case to the Ontario Supreme Court and then to the Ontario Court of Appeal and lost both times. His total legal bills exceed $170,000.
* March 10, 2006: Catholic Charities in Massachusetts is forced out of the adoption business for the first time in 100 years because it will not place children with homosexual couples.
* January 28, 2008: Jon and Elaine Huguenin, a young Christian couple from Albuquerque, N.M, were tried before the New Mexico Human Rights Commission after they declined a request to photograph a same-sex commitment ceremony, citing their religious beliefs. The same-sex couple filed a discrimination complaint with the commission, which scheduled the hearing. In the hearing, the Huguenins cited their First Amendment rights, but the commission sided with the same-sex couple. The Huguenins were fined $6,600.
Marriage matters because of the effect on education and the parent’s right to teach and rear their children in the manner they see fit. It is widely documented that once same-sex marriage becomes legal, it will be taught that it is just as acceptable as heterosexual marriage in public schools. The schools that will be forced to teach about homosexual marriage and parents will be unable to withdraw their students from these teaching sessions. Public schools will, by law, be required to teach about gay marriage. Students will, by law, be required to listen as teachers teach the mandated material. Parents will, by law, be required to stand by as principles that they disagree with are taught to their children. I do not wish to practice “fear-mongering,” the scenarios that I have laid out are real and have already happened in some states.

0bama's Dubious Dialog: plans for "a major address in an Islamic capital."
Barack Obama has been toying with the idea of dialogue with the Islamic world for two years now - but he has yet to approach the idea of actually saying anything meaningful.
At one point, his advisers talked of convening a White House summit with Muslim leaders. When that scheme was exposed as fanciful, they recommended that he attend the Islamic Summit Conference, convened once every three years. But that, too, has turned out to be problematic - so now they talking of plans for "a major address in an Islamic capital."
But what does Obama wish to say in this dialogue?
"The message I want to send is that we will be unyielding in stamping out the terrorist extremism we saw in Mumbai," Obama told The Chicago Tribune last Tuesday.
Note that the American president-elect mentions Mumbai - and not the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington or scores of others carried out by Islamic terrorists against Western targets.
Note also that he talks of "terrorist extremism," not "Islamic" or even "Islamist" terrorism.
The reason, of course, is his desire not to ruffle Muslim feathers. And herein lies the fundamental weakness of his position.

10 Reasons to Doubt Global Warming is Man-Made

2. It might just be the sun that is making us warmer.
3. There is a lot of money in global warming.
4. Kyoto isn’t about reducing carbon.
5. Regardless of what really happens, the alarmists fit reality into their predictions.
6. In 1895, the New York Times was telling America to stock up on firewood, because the Ice Age was coming. Then in the 20s, the Earth got a fever and temperatures increased a half a degree, leading the Times to report on the new impending doom: global warming. In 1954, the Earth was destined to freeze again. This global cooling talk went through the 70s and the first Earth Day.
7. Scientists who were once proponents of AGW (Anthropologic Global Warming) are now dirty, lying shills for the Oil and Energy companies.
8. I told a guy at work that Vikings used to farm Greenland.
9. Global warming was the reason there is a decrease in circumcisions in Africa.

Obama's Abortion Socialism
Conservatives rightly fear that President Obama will produce the Democrat Party's third great expansion of the welfare state, extending Leviathan beyond FDR's and LBJ's most fertile imaginations. Yet, Barack Obama constitutes an altogether different danger: expansion of federal power into cultural areas -- with an economic justification -- where previous Democratic presidents would have never considered going.
Barack Obama is seeking to nationalize certain cultural areas as an entirely new means of redistribution to the masses. Historically, the left has endeavored to nationalize specific, say, industries. Obama, however, envisions the nationalization of something wholly unique -- namely, abortion policy.
As any college student ought to learn in PoliSci 101, communism and socialism view the world through the prism of economics. The communist and socialist thrust nearly every conceivable idea in front of an economic lens, even those that don't belong there. Everything becomes an income or class issue.
Obama sees "abortion rights" in several ways, but, principally, he perceives abortion as a matter of economic fairness. For Barack Obama, abortion is not merely a Constitutional right; it is a matter of social justice. He believes it is patently unfair that some women struggle to afford an abortion, or cannot purchase the procedure at all. Consequently, the state -- meaning a single federal state -- should seize that right and ensure its equitable distribution to every (female) citizen. This is spreading the wealth -- on the skin of America's unborn.
What you have here, remarkably, is a kind of abortion socialism, utterly unprecedented in the history of America.

Another Step Towards Socialism
Seizing a rare opportunity to promote socialism and batter the First Amendment, Democrats now back yet another ill-considered proposal to ban advertisements of new and innovative pharmaceuticals. The official rationale is, of course, safety–because doctors and patients just aren’t smart enough to figure out the risks and benefits of pharmaceuticals by themselves, and make rational medical choices based on that information. No, even in an age when data on new drugs is available to anyone with an Internet connection and a basic grasp of the English language, TV-addled consumers will mindlessly seek expensive and unnecessary drugs for ailments that require little more than an organic diet and access to a living wage.

“Nationalization… Without a Whimper”
"In many ways, we are in the midst of nationalization, without a whimper… It is such an embarrassment, such an insult to those of us who believe in freedom, who believe in sound money and limited government. It's such an insult to the whole idea of what made America great! Nobody even calls it what it is. It's nationalization of our industries!
"We are always going to do good for this group, but you never ask the question,'How much harm have you done to the other group?'
"We're working on the collapse of the dollar! That's what you'd better pay attention to!"

Freedom of Choice Act: An Abolition of Choice
President Elect Barack Obama’s “honeymoon” could come to a screeching halt if he ends up signing into law the “Freedom of Choice Act”, which not only removes all legal obstacles to abortion, but other critical safeguards such as parental consent requirements and the right of religious hospitals to refuse involvement in providing abortions.
FOCA may be the most radical social legislation in decades. It seeks to strip every last restraint from abortion - outlawing states’ requirements for waiting periods, informed consent or parental consent; preventing health and safety regulation of abortion clinics and abortionists - and even ending restrictions on partial-birth abortion.
The law would overturn hundreds of local, state and federal laws governing abortion, laws that involved the input of citizens and reflected their concerns.
Freedom of Choice Act is a grotesque misnomer. Millions of individual health care providers would under the act be required to violate the cardinal tenets of their faith by performing abortions.
Barack Obama has a stellar reputation with abortion rights activists, who give him a 100% approval rating. In a speech to Planned Parenthood in July of 2007, Obama pledged his support to FOCA, saying, “The first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That’s the first thing I’d do… On this issue I will not yield.”

Dear Member of the Electoral College:
Right now, a dozen lawsuits are pending all over the United States - including one brought by a former presidential candidate and U.N. ambassador, and another suit brought by a former deputy attorney general of Pennsylvania, plus there are many others - all attempting to bring clarity to an issue that will haunt an Obama presidency if it isn't dealt with now.
That issue, as you surely know, is the fact that the U.S. Constitution says clearly and unambiguously in Article 2, Section 1 that presidents must be natural born citizens. But, as is evident not only from lawsuits, but from news stories and the actions of millions of Americans signing petitions, this constitutional issue has not yet been addressed, even at this late hour.
Unfortunately, there isn't enough time for our slow-moving legal process to deal with this before the Electoral College meets next week. Only you, our Electors, have the power and responsibility - and the obligation under the Constitution - to use your authority to establish, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that Barack Hussein Obama Jr. qualifies for the office under that standard.
There is grave and widespread concern throughout the American public that this constitutional requirement is being overlooked and enforcement neglected by state and federal election authorities. There should be no doubt whatsoever that America's next president was truly born in the United States.
Remember, if the Constitution doesn't mean precisely what it says, then America is no longer a nation under the rule of law. And a nation no longer under the rule of law is, by definition, under the rule of men.
Therefore I urge you to honor the Constitution in this matter and uphold the public trust - even if doing so may prove awkward or inconvenient.
All Americans should have confidence their president is eligible to serve. In this unique and historic case, you may prove to be the Constitution's last line of defense.
Sincerely,
Every US Citizen Who Respects the Constitution

A Consertative in a Liberal World
There's a scene in an early episode of Patrick McGoohan's billiant 1967 TV Series The Prisoner, where Number 6 is being questioned by Number 2. His response:
Number 6: I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
At times I've felt my life is NOT my own. I didn't always feel free to speak my mind.
I'm changing that today. My life *is* my own....
The typist behind my avatar is a conservative leaning libertarian. A Classical Liberal. Conservative in many ways, libertarian in others and liberal in a scant few. For many reasons I like to refer to myself as a small "l" libertarian.
Not a popular stance in a place like Second Life (SL), a decidedly Liberal/Left virtual world where support for Barack Obama is overwhelming.
Before today, I've taken the cowards way out. I've hated political discussions in SL out of fear. Fear of losing friends. Fear of being thought as intellectually inferior. I've had many things to say about SL that I have chosen NOT to say, because of my previous fears.
I make this announcement knowing I will lose a few friendships and lose respect from a few intolerant closed-minded people who have a different worldview from my own.
So be it.
For those who now feel different about me... I'll remind you of one thing. Your ideas never changed how I felt about you. I still call you a friend or acquaintance of mine. The choice is yours whether that friendship is reciprocated or not.
Be seeing you ;)

Who Am I?
My father was born in another country.
I was not his only child. He fathered several children with numerous women.
I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in me.
My mother died at an early age from cancer.
Later in life, questions arose over my real name.
My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a legitimate, reliable birth certificate.
I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was widely accepted in my country. I practiced non-traditional beliefs & didn’t follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny.
I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult, disguising myself as someone who really cared about them. That was before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and I embarked on a new career.
I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as a child.
I became active in local politics in my 30’s then with help behind the scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office in my 40’s. They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone into anything. That reinforced my conceit.
I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no experience in leading a single organization, yet I was a powerful speaker and citizens were drawn to me as though I were a magnet and they were small roofing tacks.
I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances. This bolstered my ego.
At first, my political campaign focused on my country’s foreign policy. I was very critical of my country in the last war and seized every opportunity to bash my country.
But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the country’s economy. I pretended to have a really good plan on how we could do better and every poor person would be fed & housed for free.
I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess. It was the free market, banks & corporations. I decided to start making citizens hate them & if they were envious of others who did well, the plan was clinched tight.
I called mine “A People’s Campaign” and that sounded good to all people.
I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics & was able to gain widespread popular support.
I knew that, if I merely offered the people “hope,” together we could change our country and the world.
So, I started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of the downtrodden, the poor, and the ignorant to include “persecuted minorities” like the Jews. My true views were not widely known & I needed to keep them unknown, until after I became my nation’s leader.
I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found out what I really believed, if they had simply read my writings and examined those people I associated with.
I’m glad they didn’t. Then I became the most powerful man in the world. And the world learned the truth.
Who am I?
I hope you’re sitting down…

Lingering Concerns
There are currently 13 lawsuits nationwide concerning possible violation of the U.S. Constitutional requirements for the office of President of the United States. All of them are calling for Barack Obama and the DNC to produce a valid certificate of birth proving that Obama is a citizen of America.
To date, the only certificate posted on Barack Obama's Web site has been called a forgery by expert analyst Dr. Ron Polarik, who is recognized as an expert. This man has had threats against him from Obama supporters for exposing this alarming news.
Barack's grandmother, who lives in Kenya, has said that he was born in Kenya and that she was present at his birth.
The Constitution allows only natural citizens of this country to be eligible to hold the Presidential office in order to prevent those with interests subversive to this country from attaining it. This issue is vitally important, and the Constitution must be upheld. It is the responsibility of the Electoral College to vet the candidates diligently to ascertain their eligibility. This hasn't happened.
As citizens of our great nation, we must demand that our Constitution be followed to the letter. To ignore this possible breach of Constitutional law would be devastating to this country. If one person or one political party can get away with this, our Constitution no longer has strength, and elected party candidates will be able to change it at will! If this doesn't alarm everyone who calls themselves an American, then I fear our country is in deep trouble!
Please put aside partisanship, examine the evidence for yourself and take action today.

Creating A Constitutional Crisis The Obama Way
When it first began it seemed nothing more than a trifling matter, which was destined to be quashed in a few days never to be heard of again. Now, however, it has taken on a life of it’s own and is growing, it seems, exponentially each day. The question of whether, or not, Mr. Obama is eligible to be President of the US is snowballing into what could become another constitutional crisis for the US.
We Americans are used to all sorts of questions being thrown around about our political candidates. As a result, many of us are just yawning and looking away as a few hardheaded citizens demand that Mr. Obama, the “presumed” President-Elect, is asked about proof of his US citizenship.
The US Constitution, another inconvenient piece of US law, demands (Under Article Two, Section One) that one be a natural born citizen of the US to serve as it’s President. Here are the exact words: “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”
OK, so why not put the rumors and, even worse, the bevy of lawsuits, to rest by simply producing proof of citizenship by showing the world a valid birth certificate? See, that’s the part I cannot, for the life of me, understand! This entire dustup could be resolved and the hounds nipping at the heels of the soon to be President brought to heel. I just DON’T GET IT!
OK, so what happens if it turns out that Mr. Obama is NOT a natural born citizen? Well… we’d have a constitutional crisis … is what. That is the last thing we need at this moment in our history.
This issue needs to be settled before the oath of office. It must be settled. Can you even imagine the damage done should Mr. Obama assume the presidency only to be found out some time later to be, shall we say, less than qualified? What about all the appointments he might make? Every one of them would have to be recalled. In the mean time, what do you do about all the decisions THEY might have made while holding their respective offices illegally? They’d all have to be overturned. And… who would be Commander-in-Chief of the US Armed Forces? What about all the executive orders he makes… and the Bills the Congress hands up to him for his signature making them the law of the land? Would those laws not be null and void? Can you see the complications this could, and would, have on our nation?
There is an excellent article on this at The Bulletin. It’s titled: “Obama Fomenting A Constitutional Crisis: Constitutional Lawyer Discusses Ramifications Of Controversy”. You’ll find it here.
In case you haven’t heard it from the Mainstream Media, the Supreme Court Justices will meet Friday, December 5th and review a case, which challenges the eligibility of Mr. Obama to serve as this nation’s President.
Pennsylvania attorney Philip J. Berg has now filed an emergency motion for immediate injunction asking the courts to halt state certification of electors in order to stop the Electoral College from meeting on December 15th and casting their votes for Mr. Obama. At the same time, Berg is seeking to stop the official vote count, which is scheduled for January 6th until the court decides on his appeal. By the way, in case you are wondering… Mr. Berg is a democrat.
This issue is not going away until it is faced head on, by Obama, and put to rest by producing proof of his birth as an American citizen. Why drag this out? Why not produce the document in question and let’s move on.

"we’d have a constitutional crisis … is what. That is the last thing we need at this moment in our history."
There may be a more convenient time for a Constitutional crisis, but at this point, that may be just what it takes to send a necessary wake-up call to so many who would so casually toss aside the most perfect document of its kind.
I appeal to all American Patriots to stand up for our Constitution, and put the fear of the people back into government.

Why OS X Shrugs Off Viruses Better Than Windows
It doesn't matter how good baked-in security is if a user throws out the welcome mat for whatever crap comes their way. On the flip side, you're also the first, and best, line of protection. Don't do anything stupid, and you'll be fine, anti-virus software or not—whatever OS you're running.

Obama Misses the (Extra) Point
Politicians pose as the ultimate experts. They may never have worked in an industry or studied an issue before, but after few months of time on a topic they know everything: the types of cars that should be produced, the science of global warming, and how much doctors should charge for different types of surgery.
Outside of studying law, few in Congress even have backgrounds that are closely related to some of the issues covered by government. Just take the Senate this year, almost half, 45, are attorneys. Only one doctor, four farmers, 13 business people, seven teachers, four professors (all law, and three are listed as just adjuncts), and virtually all the others list their past experience as professional politician. No members of the Senate are scientists or economists. One member of the Senate played professional sports, and another owned a professional sports team.
A president and members of Congress deal with thousands of complicated topics each year. But is there anything politicians consider off limits?
Apparently not. Take President-elect Barack Obama’s foray last week into how college football should be run. Obama told CBS’s 60 Minutes:
"I think any sensible person would say that, if you've got a bunch of teams who play throughout the season and many of them have one loss or two losses, there's no clear, decisive winner, that we should be creating a playoff system. Eight teams, that would be three rounds to determine a national champion. It would -- it would add three extra weeks to the season. You could trim back on the regular season. I don't know any serious fan of college football who has disagreed with me on this. So I'm going to throw my weight around a little bit. I think it's the right thing to do."

I wanted to share a couple of insightful comments from that forum that really struck home with me.
generally's comment:
I think it says a lot about a person to look at what he spends his time thinking about and talking about.
meadsjn's comment:
The obsession with spectator sports and entertainment icons have reduced our national dialogue to jeers and cheers. Few people among the general public, even among educated professionals, can follow a train of thought needed to read or listen to a complete sentence.
These are people who vote. And they know less than nothing about the candidates or issues. They have picked a side, based on who knows what, and they cheer and jeer with their vote.
Our next season does not look good at all.

Liberalized Center is 'Capitol' Crime
The just-completed Capitol Visitor Center, which opens Dec. 2, is a 580,000-square-foot cavern dug at the foot of the U.S. Capitol at a cost of $621 million (almost nine times over budget).
Designed to provide "an enhanced educational experience," the Visitor Center allows guests to make on-line reservations before spending time at two gift shops, enjoying a 530-seat restaurant, visiting any of 26 restrooms or watching an orientation film in one of two theaters, all in air-conditioned comfort.
The "educational" part is the Exhibition Hall, the theme of which is "E Pluribus Unum -- Out of Many, One." The etching in marble initially referred to that phrase as the nation's motto. Now, however, that etching is covered by a bad plaster job, because … well, "E Pluribus Unum" is not the nation's motto. Our actual motto, "In God We Trust," is notably absent, along with other references to faith.
This exhibit is Congress' temple to liberals' "living Constitution," the eternal font of lawmakers' evolving mandate to achieve the nation's ideals. There are no fixed meanings in their version, only open-ended "aspirations." The Constitution is an empty vessel, to be adapted to the times, as required to bring change. It means nothing -- or anything.
The education experience concludes by quoting Sen. Robert La Follette, the great progressive reformer from Wisconsin: "America is not made. It's in the making."
According to this distorted view, we are a pluribus only until Congress makes us an unum--by remaking the Constitution in its own image.

Petition to Demand 0bama's Birth Certificate
Hawaii Dept of Health will not confirm 0bama's assertion that he was born in Hawaii.
Legal affidavits state 0bama was born in Kenya.
U.S. Law in effect in 1961 denied U.S. citizenship to any child born in Kenya if the father was Kenyan and the mother was not yet 19 years of age.
In 1965, Barack 0bama's mother legally relinquished whatever Kenyan or U.S. citizenship she and 0bama had by marrying an Indonesian and becoming a naturalized Indonesian citizen.
-------
Whereas, by requirement of the United States Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, no one can be sworn into office as president of the United States without being a natural born citizen;
Whereas, there is sufficient controversy within the citizenry of the United States as to whether presidential election winner Barack Obama was actually born in Hawaii as he claims;
Whereas, Barack Obama has refused repeated calls to release publicly his entire Hawaiian birth certificate, which would include the actual hospital that performed the delivery;
Whereas, lawsuits filed in several states seeking only proof of the basic minimal standard of eligibility have been rebuffed;
Whereas, Hawaii at the time of Obama's birth allowed births that took place in foreign countries to be registered in Hawaii;
Whereas, concerns that our government is not taking this constitutional question seriously will result in diminished confidence in our system of free and fair elections;
We, the undersigned, assert our rights as citizens of the United States in demanding that the constitutional eligibility requirement be taken seriously and that any and all controlling legal authorities in this matter examine the complete birth certificate of Barack Obama, including the actual city and hospital of birth, and make that document available to the American people for inspection.
SIGN THE PETITION and forward it to every citizen you know.
Barack, The Amazing Mr. Obama
Barack Obama, along with the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission have successfully ignored a Federal Lawsuit asking him to produce a valid Birth Certificate. When the time to respond to that lawsuit expired, under Federal Court Rules, they all admitted that he was not a citizen of The United States of America and deemed to have committed fraud. A normal man would have been found to have admitted he was not a US citizen.
But the man with no visible past, was blessed by a light shining from above on a Federal Judge, by having the lawsuit against him dismissed, three weeks after his non-response was proof that he is not a US citizen. The only “Certificate of Birth” that he has produced is not a Birth Certificate. It is a Certificate of Live Birth, which any foreign citizen can obtain by simply showing up at the Vital Records department of the State of Hawaii and showing the original Birth Certificate from the original birth place, regardless of what country the birth took place in. Forensic records experts have stated that the document Obama produced on his web site is a forgery. The only comment made by the Hawaii Department of Vital Records is that they “Have seen the original Birth Certificate”. They never once have said he was born in Hawaii. The only thing that matters is that he refuses to produce a valid Birth Certificate and instead spends thousands of dollars on attorneys and defies Federal lawsuits and State lawsuits asking him to produce one single piece of paper that most every citizen of every nation of the world has easy and rapid access to.
Barack Obama promised people what they wanted: Hope and Change, without ever saying what that hope and change were going to be. One of Obama’s much praised abilities is his way of being very articulate in his speeches.
Obama sold the dream of hope and change so desperately wanted by the American voters. He pushed the greed button by promising to take from the rich to give to the poor.
Barack Obama may just win his place in history as the greatest con man of all time. A hundred million people believed him and spent 600 million dollars to get him “elected” to the highest office in America, without ever knowing if he is or is not eligible to even run as an American citizen. It is either amazing that he will pull it off or it is amazing that so many millions of people believed him.
If the Electoral College appoints him as President of The United States of America on December 5, 2008 and Congress ratifies that choice, and it is later proven that he is not a US citizen, then not one single word he utters will be valid as representing this country. The Courts, our police, our military will have no duty to obey anything he signs. It is also possible that certain people, who were part of and promoted the con, may be charged with Treason.

The Bailout Mentality Ends Here
The federal government is not only burying future generations under mountains of debt. It is also taking our country in a very dangerous direction — toward a “bailout mentality” where we look to government rather than ourselves for solutions.

Coming Soon to a Republic Near You: Martial Law?
What Pentagon officials didn't add was that a domestic force could also be deployed in a martial law role (North American Union, anyone?). So much for the Posse Comitatus Act.

Obama Fomenting A Constitutional Crisis
According to the Constitution, a president must be a natural born citizen of the U.S. Mr. Obama's critics have failed to force him legally to produce his original birth certificate, and Mr. Obama has resisted any attempt to make him do so.
Any appointments made by an ineligible president would have to be recalled, and their decisions would be invalidated.
Several court cases in the birth certificate controversy are waiting admission to the Supreme Court.

0bama's Certificate of Live Birth
Hawaii Revised Statute 338-17.8 allows registration of birth in Hawaii for a child that was born outside of Hawaii to parents who, for a year preceding the childs birth, claimed Hawaii as their place of residence. The parents would be issued a Certification of Live Birth. This is not proof of where the child was born. It only proves that the parents claimed Hawaii as their main place of residence for the prior year.
British Nationality Act of 1948 (Part II, Section 5): Subject to the provisions of this section, a person born after the commencement of this Act shall be a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies by descent if his father is a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies at the time of the birth.
A natural born citizen, would not be a citizen of any other nation than the United States. That is what "natural born" means. By nature, the child, would be only a US citizen, because both of his parents were US citizens, and NO OTHER NATION, can by law claim him to be under their jurisdiction, at the moment of his birth. That was not the case with Obama. He was, by law, a Citizen of the United Kingdom, the moment he was born, and then, by law, he became a citizen of Kenya on Dec. 12, 1963.

Redistribution of Wealth Experiment
From Gecko Tales
Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign the read “Vote Obama, I need the money.” I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on a “Obama 08" tie, again I laughed–just imagine the coincidence.
Suddenly, it hit me. An experiment is in order.
I asked the server, did he really believe that Obama's platform was a good one? Yes, he did.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept.
He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need – the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10, and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn, even though the actual recipient needed the money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application - at least if it is your wealth that is being redistributed.Thursday, November 27, 2008
0bama's $800,000 Fiasco
I think the reason for the strange behavior around it is that our leadership have decided it is better to hide the truth from the American people than to deal with the chaos that revealing the truth that someone who is not eligible to be President was elected.
I see three potential scenarios:
0bama finally submits the real deal instead of previous forgeries, and we just wonder why he fought it so long and hard.
The United States Supreme Court finds 0bama to be ineligible & forced to step aside, and we see riots in the streets.
The United States Supreme Court finds 0bama to be ineligible, but is inaugurated anyway, and the second American Revolution kicks off.
Any way it pans out, this is not shaping up to be the kind of "change" any of us want or need to see happen to our beloved Representative Republic USA. We can only "hope" for the best, and act accordingly.
Something is Happening of Historic Proportions
I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.
Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.
We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?
We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has “loaned” two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of “we the people,” who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.
We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?
We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?
We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?
Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about)–the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.
And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)
Mr. Obama’s winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.
Why?
I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.
This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.
And that is only the beginning.
And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his “brown shirts” would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.
He did it with a compliant media–did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change. And the people surely got what they voted for.
(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)
Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.
Don’t forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years–a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency–it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.
As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.
Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe–and why I believe it.
I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am.
